Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement that you will receive upon booking confirmation or at the time of vehicle collection. This document outlines the specific terms, conditions, insurance information, fees, and your obligations related to the rental. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Requirements for Vehicle Rental
- To rent a vehicle from Aldridge, drivers must be a minimum of 21 years old, though age restrictions may differ depending on the vehicle type, with extra fees applicable for those under 25. A valid driving licence suitable for the vehicle category is required, along with proof of identity and current address. Additionally, valid payment details and a security deposit must be provided, along with any other criteria outlined in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payment Process
- Reservations can be completed via our website, over the phone, or directly at our Dartford office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. Full payment, along with a security deposit, is generally required upon vehicle pickup. All charges are displayed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where applicable. We accept all major credit and debit cards, with transactions processed securely through trusted payment platforms.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- Upon collecting the vehicle, a thorough inspection is required to identify and report any pre-existing damage. A vehicle condition report will be completed and signed by both parties. It is important to return the vehicle in the same condition as it was received, taking into account normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and charges applied accordingly. The vehicle should also be returned with the same fuel level as at collection; refueling fees will be incurred if the fuel level is lower. Late returns can result in additional fees, so please inform us promptly if you anticipate any delays. You will be held responsible for any parking fines, traffic violations, or charges that occur during your rental, along with an administrative processing fee.
Insurance and Liability Terms
- All rentals come with basic third-party insurance included. You can find comprehensive coverage details and excess amounts in the Rental Agreement. Options for additional insurance may be available to help lower your financial liability. It is important to review these options thoroughly. You remain liable for any damage or loss up to the insurance excess, except where additional insurance applies. Responsibility for damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms lies with you, regardless of insurance coverage.
6. Modifications and Cancellations
Cancellation and modification policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice period provided. For specific information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or no-shows could incur additional charges.
Prohibited Activities
Prohibited Uses of Rental Vehicle
- The vehicle must not be used for any unlawful activities or purposes. This includes racing, rallying, off-roading, or any similarly risky endeavors. Transporting hazardous materials is strictly prohibited. Sub-letting the vehicle or permitting unauthorized drivers is not allowed. Operating the vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs is forbidden. The vehicle should be used in accordance with its intended purpose and within established passenger and weight limits. Driving outside the agreed geographical boundaries without prior authorization is not permitted.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental cancellation and extra fees.
Liability Limitations
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Aldridge Car Hire will not be responsible for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, that may arise from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claim will not exceed the rental amount paid in the previous 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury resulting from negligence, or for fraud.
9. Applicable Law
These Terms are regulated by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will fall under the jurisdiction of the courts in this region.
Updates to Terms
Aldridge reserves the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately upon publication on our website. Continued use of our services indicates your acceptance of the revised Terms.
