1. Hire Agreement
All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive upon booking confirmation or at the time of vehicle collection. This document outlines pertinent terms, conditions, insurance information, charges, and your obligations related to the rental. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Vehicle Rental Requirements
- To rent a vehicle from Aldridge, drivers must be at least 21 years old, though some vehicle types may have different age requirements and potential extra fees for those under 25. A valid, full driving license appropriate for the vehicle category is necessary, held for the duration stated in the Rental Agreement. Valid identification and proof of current address are required, along with accepted payment information and a security deposit. Additional criteria may be outlined in the Rental Agreement.
3. Reservations and Payments
- Reservations can be completed via our website, by telephone, or directly at our Dartford office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. The remaining balance and security deposit are usually payable upon vehicle pickup. Prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where relevant. We accept all major credit and debit cards, securely processed through established payment providers.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of collection, it is necessary to carefully inspect the vehicle and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be created and both parties will sign it. The vehicle must be returned in the same condition as it was collected, accounting for normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and may result in additional charges. Please return the vehicle with the same fuel level as it was provided; refueling fees will apply if the level is lower. Late returns may incur extra charges, so please inform us as soon as possible if you expect a delay. You remain liable for any parking fines, traffic violations, or other charges incurred during your rental, along with an administrative fee.
Insurance and Liability Terms
- All rentals come with basic third-party insurance included. Detailed information regarding coverage and excess amounts is outlined in the Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be offered to help lower your financial risk. It is beneficial to examine these options closely. You remain liable for any damage or loss up to the excess amount unless additional insurance applies. Any damage resulting from negligence, improper use, or violation of these Terms will be your responsibility, regardless of insurance coverage.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice period provided. For precise details, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or failure to show up may incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited Uses of Vehicle
- The vehicle must not be used for any unlawful activities. This includes racing, rallying, off-roading, or any hazardous driving practices. It is prohibited to transport dangerous materials or to sublet the vehicle to others. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly forbidden. The vehicle should only be used for its intended purpose and within the specified passenger and weight limits. Additionally, driving outside the agreed geographical boundaries requires prior approval.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental cancellation and extra fees.
Liability Restrictions
To the fullest extent allowed under English and Welsh law, Aldridge Car Hire will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims will be limited to the amount you paid for the rental in the previous 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury resulting from negligence, or for fraudulent actions.
9. Applicable Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be resolved exclusively in English and Welsh courts.
10. Updates to Terms
We reserve the right to amend these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately upon publication on our website. Continued use of our services indicates your acceptance of the revised Terms.
